* Twilio generally requires you provide some sort of server for their callbacks to reach out to, though sometimes you can keep this mostly in the browser
** Twilio allows for SMS broadcasts if you program a script to handle this yourself via your own webserver

why we started
2600hz

We started 2600hz because we were tired of the mysterious carrier hiding inside a big black box. Using the latest technologies and some of the brightest minds in infrastructure design, 2600hz is taking the complexity out of the phone network to open the black box for everyone. We're teaching the world how telecom works and giving you the power to change it altogether. Come join us!

2600hz

What kind of requirements are there for quality of servers?

Kazoo can run on servers as small as 512mb, though we generally recommend 1-2GB RAM and a quad core CPU.

Is there a minimum or maximum capacity?

The system is designed to scale infinitely. There will likely be bottlenecks that must be solved over 10,000 seats in the code, but below that, you should be fine. The system is also flexible – you can get started with as few as 1 user on the system.

How do I bill my clients?

We integrate with various billing software out-of-the-box that work specifically with VoIP. DTH is one example. To get the full list or check compatibility, contact sales@2600hz.com

Where can I offer service?

On our hosted service you can offer service in the US and Canada. By deploying our software on your servers you can deploy your service anywhere in the world.

Can I host it on my own Rackspace Servers?

Yes, you can host our software on Rackspace. Please install a CentOS 5.7 64-bit image.

Can I host it on my own Amazon Servers?

Yes, you can host our software on Amazon. Please install a CentOS 5.7 64-bit image.

Can I host it on my own Servers?

Yes, you can host on any SSH accessible server. Please install a CentOS 5.7 64-bit OS.

What features can I offer my customers?

See our full feature list here

Is there a user interface?

There sure is. We have tried to make this as easy to manage and work as possible. Check out our GUI at apps.2600hz.com

Can I white-label the system?

Yes. We support and encourage white-labeling of our system. Unlike other systems, this isn't just in the graphical user interface – even the DNS names phones and web browser use to access the service can be masked to show only your name. Also, our expert graphic designers can assist you in integrating your existing logo and look & feel into our platform.

Can I have resellers?

Yes! Just like we help you white-label the system to look and feel like it's completely yours, we allow you to resell this service to anyone you'd like.  They can white-label with their brand, too!

Can I use my own minutes? Do you provide minutes?

You can bring your own minutes or you can buy trunks and minutes from us directly at apps.2600hz.com

How do I provision phones?

Utilize the auto provisioner on our website, under VoIP Services / Devices of our GUI, or utilize our APIs. When you enter the MAC address of a phone, the device is automatically provisioned.

What phones can I use?

We are a handset agnostic system, meaning you can use any SIP device. Our most preferred devices are Polycom and Yealink, as these phones act the most stable with our setup and auto-provisioning is easiest.  This includes the newest Polycom firmware.

Hosting/Equipment costs

Hosting and equipment costs vary by scale of project. Contact sales@2600hz.com for individual requests.

Where are your data centers located?

We use Rackspace and EC2, located in various locations around the US. Primarily our data centers and SIP services are provided out of One Wilshire in Los Angeles, Rackspace Chicago, Rackspace Dallas and Newark, NJ. We also have a datacenter in the UK and are expanding to Australia.
